Quick question. How did you update the HD to SSD? Like did you fresh reinstall or? I want to upgrade one of my Thinkpads to SSD whichever one i keep, but I want it to be the exact same as stock. And I heard people say the partitions are different and have to match for it to work, how did you do it? I am unsure. |

A clean install is better but it requires much more work to keep the recovery partition ( you will probably need an imaging tool for that) and then install everything you need. Last edited by dubleo; 02-16-2013 at 11:38 AM.. |

Personally, I don't think I'd buy either, but the Asus is definitely better. |

How many laptops do you own right now? How many of them are business class ones? How many are consumer class ones? After dealing with business class build quality and warranty , you may not want to buy a consumer laptop again. Also , Display Port is superior to HDMI. Most 2560 x 1440 monitors have a Display Port so that covers enough people. Also in some cases you can get an adapter.
Of course I wouldn't buy this specific HP or the Asus since I own laptops that are better than both since I currently own a ThinkPad W530 and a ThinkPad X230t. Last edited by dubleo; 02-16-2013 at 01:54 PM.. |

The HP 8770w for example with the right options will be better the the W530 since the 8770w can be built with a 10 Bit IPS panel and a faster GPU. The HP 8770w also has a full numpad. The standard warranty on the 8770w is better than the standard warranty on the W530. If you have a really high budget ($2000+) , the HP 8770w would probably be the best buy right now if you are looking for high build quality and amazing parts. If you budget is under $2000 , the W530 would be a better buy. It really depends on what you want and how much you can spend. After spending $3000 on an HP 8770w , it's hard to be satisfied by what other laptops could offer unless you just want a lightweight. ThinkPads aren't what they to be but they are still great for their price (they go on sale a lot now) Last edited by dubleo; 02-16-2013 at 06:17 PM.. |
