That's 6.5 cents per round. This deal is 7 cents per round. This isn't a bad deal at all and if you don't see that, I don't know what to say. Manufacturers aren't going to catch up to demand on personal orders alone then combined with the BILLIONS of rounds the government has on order for many many months and the manufacturers aren't going to invest in new production lines because eventually demand will settle. So when you run out of .22.. and can't go shooting for cheap... don't come crying ot us because you skipped out on what is a decent deal at the time. |

Go ask a police officer about some of the victims they have seen killed with a .22 and you might have a little more respect for the caliber. |

THere is a difference. Pick up a walther p22 or a .22 AR style semi auto and run some federal through it... Then run some CCI's through it... and enjoy the lack of FTF, FTE's.... Im not saying the 17.50 ammo wasn't fine.. I used plenty of it.. but there is a diffeence and if you are going to compare prices you need to compare to comparable priced products at the time. |
That was the price for 100, but the larger packs had cheaper per round pricing. The 500 packs of CCI were closer to .06 and if you got larger quantities, you could bring that down even more. It is still cheaper than shooting pretty much anything else at this point. |
Keep in mind that Natches, who has had some bricks of .22 for .05 and.07 lately, are restricting purchases to ONE BOX...
So you are paying $18-$20 for a brick but then $12+ dollars for shipping that single box... so unless you are ordering alot of other calibers, it isn't comparable. |
Even at .06... .07 is only 1 cent more per round, in this climate where the only thing on the shelves is 12 gauge shells... it's a good deal. I have no doubt I will go through the 1500 rounds I have and the 1000 I just ordered (splitting the other half of the order with a friend) well before the time prices settle back to pre-madness price. |

As a comparison, I laugh at the prices of what the houses cost in CA, but that's what they are used to. Basic supply and demand and what the market can stand. I'm sure that where you are from, you don't have to be put on an 8 mo waiting list to get into a CCW class either, but that's just how it is here. |

500 bricks for an online shop that ships to a nation wide market is a pretty small shipment. |
You are right on!!!!!! and if you haven't checked as of late Natchez is now calling it a shipping and handling fee of $19.95 even on a box of 350 .22LR that costs $16.99 so your total price for one box is $36.94 ($0.10/rd) and, as you pointed out, limit ONE box. That's a $20 charge per customer as you walk through the door. What gun shop would you let charge you $20 just to walk in and hand/"handle" you a box of ammo. But it is gladlly bought up within hours. You hit the nail on the head!! Good call GTeye! |

[QUOTE=pliepl;57608736]Interestingly enough this all started right after Sandy Hook. Sandy Hook emptied the shelves but the shelves were never really restocked and people just assumed the masses were continually buying up everything out of fear. From what I've been able to figure out, ammo makers are actually ramping up production but my local stores aren't actually getting stock and neither are the online stores. What they are receiving are peanut amounts. [QUOTE]
I don't think there is some grand conspiracy at the moment regarding supplies. I think what you are seeing is TONS of people who have never owned a weapon before going out and buying one in fear that they may not be able to in 6 months. While I think the gun control push is going to ultimately fail, this is the first legitimate attempt at banning, confiscation and regulation in 20 years and the bills this time are targeting more than just your "assault rifle" (made up term) type weapons but weapons that the majority of people currently have next to their beds. Add to that panic buying, hoarding, increased interest in shooting, etc and you have a recipe for shortages. You can literally watch, even when a place gets in 5000 boxes, the numbers go down in real time.. within minutes, they are gone. I saw packs of 5000 .22LR go in just 20 minutes from a site the other day... it's insane. |
but I dont think that the local PD would like that too much!Start up cost at a minimum in my area would be a cost of $10-12k/acre, not including the rental of the equipment to move dirt to create a backstop. All in all, you point out a good entrepeneurial idea, but not cost effective due to start of cost and cost of ground in the corn belt! It would take a lot of students to cover that cost! |
