AMMO in stock: 500 round Brick - 22 LR CCI Standard Velocity OOS

I already knew about the feds buying billions of bullets back in September. That news didn't really affect ammo prices nor the stock levels. I stocked up back in October prior to the election and things were still normal then. Prices never really spiked until shelves started to go bare in mid December. Ammo prices are so high now because stock isn't available. Now why is stock not available is what I want to know. I don't buy the whole people are buying up all the stock reasoning because anyone claiming that is only looking at the present day surface symptoms. People are buying up scrape amounts because normal stock isn't actually coming in making ammo scarce and driving up prices. That's the route problem. Interestingly enough this all started right after Sandy Hook. Sandy Hook emptied the shelves but the shelves were never really restocked and people just assumed the masses were continually buying up everything out of fear. From what I've been able to figure out, ammo makers are actually ramping up production but my local stores aren't actually getting stock and neither are the online stores. What they are receiving are peanut amounts. Someone is buying up all the stock between manufacturing and distribution to the stores. Makes one think the current ammo shortage was engineered. Something unusual is going on behind the seams. I don't know what but it makes my "spider senses" tingle.


I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and I can confirm that here as well (since December) so it's just not limited to rural areas.

500 bricks for an online shop that ships to a nation wide market is a pretty small shipment.

2 go along with that, I have 3 pistol magazines on order with Sig Sauer. It has been in limbo land for over 30 days now.

I have not been at the range for a few weeks. I can imagine this "ammo shortage" has impacted them too.

You guys are encouraging them to make these the permanent prices.

You paid 17.50 for a brick of bulk federal... not CCI's.

THere is a difference.

Pick up a walther p22 or a .22 AR style semi auto and run some federal through it...

Then run some CCI's through it... and enjoy the lack of FTF, FTE's....

Im not saying the 17.50 ammo wasn't fine.. I used plenty of it.. but there is a diffeence and if you are going to compare prices you need to compare to comparable priced products at the time.

That may be a contributing factor, however after Sandy Hook basically every online ammo dealer sold out of every caliber and have had scraps come in here and there since.

People are fearing that ammo will be banned, even common ammo like 22LR and 9mm, so they're flipping out.

For all whiners waiting until the day ammo prices magically drop back to pre-Sandy Hook days....good luck. The previous generation of whiners 10+ years ago waited for ammo prices to drop back to pre-9/11 days too.

Better realize when a sea change happens in history folks. We're definitely witnessing one in the gun industry. A shortage/rationing of the lowly 22LR is a big fat sign.
