beware this monitor has a fairly heavy AG coating on it. As someone who has a U2412 I'd be all over this if it had the less aggressive coating that the Samsung monitors with the VA panels have. Properly calibrated the U2412 produces a beautiful image but side by side with the Samsung I had the speckled effect was obvious and text was not as sharp, I'd imagine the effect is even more pronounced on a monitor with a higher pixel density.

The benefit of the heavy anti-glare is better glare reduction in bad lighting, as with strong fluorescent lighting. The reduced glare may also help with color accuracy so those who want to use this mostly for image editing are probably better off with a heavier coating.
This monitor also has less obstructive PWM flicker because it uses a CCFL backlight. LED backlit panels with PWM can cause eyestrain because LEDs turn on and off very quickly, without the more gradual glow that CCFL offers. This monitor has an effective sRGB emulation mode, so it works for wide gamut and standard gamut uses. |

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-li...ition=used AWD has it for over 100 less. Yes, i know there isn't a 3 year warranty, but no tax on Amazon either for most of the country. |

Before you start thinking about removing the anti-glare coating, feel free to weigh your risks: Link [overclock.net].

But yeah, warehouse deals definitely are an option. There's also a lot of cheap Korean models on eBay. It's all a matter of personal preference. |

Got this monitor a few weeks ago from Dell last time it was onsale. Absolutely love it. I don't find the anti-glare coating at all bad (a very slight shimmer on very white backgrounds). Nowhere near as noticible as people would try to scare you into thinking it is. I'd rather have a monitor with a very mildly noticeable anti-glare coating and beautiful display than one with possible (likely) backlight bleed and cross hatching (the U2713HM). Also, the build quality on this thing is excellent.
