The fact that this one is fulfilled by Amazon themselves and is prime eligible is why I finally pulled the trigger on it after watching it for about 6 months now.

I stand by my earlier comment that this is only a mediocre price, but on the other side I will also say that Costco's is not the same shed, it is not not nearly as nice, and at today's prices I would take the one at amazon over the one at costco, even though it costs more.

I was going over violations with my neighbors houses. and noticed a voilation because he had a shed in his backyard.

Is it illegal to put a shed in your own backyard?

Depends on the HOA or Subdivision regulations you agree to before purchasing the home. Typically when developing a subdivision the contractor will impose a certain range of rules to adhere to to keep things looking like they belong. Some require a minimum car size garage, some require maximum number of bedrooms, minimum roof pitches, etc etc. Some don't give you much of a range and you end up with those scarily monotonous looking subdivisions where everything looks nearly identical and boring.

Im not part of an HOA, but I think I can put a shed in the backyard if i want.
Searching the nyc.gov website, it says i dont need permit as long as its put in backyard, 120sq ft or less, less than 10ft tall, and placed 3ft from property lines if flammable.

If you live in a subdivision, even if you don't have an HOA, there is still a good chance you signed something outlying what can/can't be done within the subvision as far as structural stuff goes. THAT's what you need to find and go over. HOA is usually in addition to that agreement.

meh/.... I have a steel shed right now and I hate the motherfarking thing.... doors are a PITA to open/close, and the roof collapsed from snow a couple years back. Plastic sheds won't be any better for snow weight, but have the bonus that they are easier to disassemble and move. Next shed is wood all the way.
