Ohh how i so want to upgrade from my 2009 macbook pro 15" . . . however there is absolutely nothing wrong with my macbook, it runs like new ever since i put my solid state in.

On another note, the great thing about macbooks is that they all look the same for the most part (excluding the retina), so no one knows how old my computer actually is. . . for all they know its a new i7 one

So, I am spending $1474 on a Mac and after 3 years what do you think I can get out of it? I am thinking $800-$900 (if I sell it on ebay).

Now suppose I buy a $800 Asus/Samsung, I can get $450 for it after 3 years. Now, haven't both laptops held their value? or if I buy a $500 refurbished Dell/Thinkpad, I can sell it after 3 years for $250-$300.

I like Apple's build and quality control, but fail to see how they yield a better percent return over their competitors.

i have a 15" hp laptop that has a graphics card good enough for gaming, but i use that at home mainly connected to my 24" monitor.

the air was mainly for portability going to school. the 13" pro is only half a lb heavier. there would prob be even a larger price difference with the 15"

My $1,300 Acer laptop was sold for $400 after three years.

Acer laptops are junk compared to Dell Precisions and Lenovo ThinkPads so the Acer should drop much faster.
