Yep, Apple managed to package up at least three similarly-specced laptops in the 2.5GHz boxes from the other thread. Mine also had 0 listed for charge cycles, so it was as brand new as these ones but without the retail packaging and slightly higher price. It ended up being especially worthwhile to me because I'm still dealing with MacMall and they are trying desperately to keep my money even though I've communicated multiple times to cancel the order. Somehow, they think FedEx has the laptop even though it never left their warehouse (and that was confirmed by a customer support agent).

FYI that is also the same company (or same parent company). So they probably charge tax in the same places I would think...

If you can actually read 1:1 scaling at that native resolution you are certainly benefiting from the greater resolution.

The MBPR uses DPI scaling, you're only getting ~720p of actual screen real estate. I highly doubt you could read off a retina display with 1:1 scaling, don't lie now lol.

in 1080p 1:1, characters are about 2mm wide. From 12 inches away, this isn't incredibly difficult if you're 20/20 vision. Now with a retina display.... You'd have to be like 20/10 to be able to read the display clearly..

P.S: A 1080p display at 12 inches away is considered a retina display, go figure!

I'm enjoying mine, already sold my Air. Gonna end up selling my iPad as well since I rarely use it.

I'm waiting on Squaretrade's no limit coupon so I can purchase an accidental 3 warranty from them, but I don't think that'll be coming up within my 30 days of this purchase. If not then I'll just settle with the Applecare from BHPhoto, I don't plan on keeping this MacBook for more than 3 years so it'll be easier to sell with warranty on this laptop.

Also purchased a case that fits great from eBay, the black rubberized hard case with red keyboard cover look great on my Pro. The case came with a screen protector but I don't think I'll use the one that came with it, but possibly an anti-glare one in near future. The full case was only $26.99 shipped from a seller overseas and saved me a lot as opposed to buying from Amazon. Shipping was surprisingly fast for an oversea seller.
