Because the person helping you doesn't know wtf they're talking about. It's a clear as day that that from the part number and shipping weight that this is the side panel. Getting the weight off, have an error here or there in the description, or even describing the wrong items is pretty common. Part number is what they rarely screw up on. They're just quoting you the page and described item verbatim nothing more.

Though I will say if anyone gets the case count your blessings because others have alread confirmed it's the side panel. I myself have a Midi, want a side window panel, and at this price it's already cheaper than anywhere else on the net so I'll be ordering one. :p

Went to pick mine up at Walmart today. They opened the shipping box (which looked big enough to hold a case) and pulled out a box just big enough for a side panel. Read the box, said side panel. I showed the woman that got it for me my receipt showing it should be the case. She said my 2 options were to take it and see if it's what I need or return it then and there. I tried to explain to her the difference between a panel and a case and she looked at me like I was speaking a different language. I got my money refunded.

Anyone got a case instead of the side panel? I don't feel like driving to the local Wally if nobody was successful in getting one

I wasn't able to; picked up the side panel in store. Walmart.com is insistent that I should have received the full case, but since it shows OOS online, they're only willing to offer me a refund.

Weird thing is they took down my UPC code and said admitted that I received wrong item. Oh well, they probably don't have the case itself for sale in the first place?
