maybe at stock speeds they might be the same... but when you overclock the 7870 Tahiti it's much hotter and needs more fan speed (~2000 rpm or 55% setting) to stay cool. I just got the Sapphire version and it's running at 1.2 GHz no problem. Together with an overclocked 3770k @4.5Ghz, it's beating stock GTX 670's. I don't know how... but it's fast as hell. Here are my passmark scores... see if you can beat them...

I can hear the fans IF I turn off my sound and get on the ground and put my ear next to the computer case. When playing a game with sound on and computer on the ground, I can't hear it. Never understood the crybabies that want it mouse quiet.

Good info in this thread about the card, seems like the best choice if you can get it at the ~$200 price point and are willing to compromise on the power draw and noise. Did anybody put in for a PM @ Amazon?

looks like AMD is continuing the 7 series throughout the year. will wait for a better price.

Yea. I was going to get one, but with better deals around the corner, I may as well wait. I got a 7850 a while back and it had some serious issues and I ended up returning it.

Put my 4850 X2 back in and all is well with world again :|

Tahiti LE and Tahiti are two different things.
