LCD and LED are the SAME display technology, with different lighting. So yes, they are very similar. And you're a little too enthusiastic about your own thread . Go buy it if you want it and don't worry about what others think of the deal.
Really guys, this is a deal site. If you have no complaints about the deal, then why are you here complaining?
. Don't buy it if you don't want it and don't worry about what others do like about the deal!

perfect timing, this is perfect for my gf n her family. her tv just went bad few days ago n i told her i will look for a good deal. perfect for them since they don't care much about HD n the new technology.
I saw this in my email and did a quick search...its about $30 less than what Walmart sells it for every day. Not that $30 is nothing. Just not sure I would freak out and run to BB to grab one if I didn't really need one, (like I do with so many OTHER things on SD). It's not a bad deal, but again, not worth a compulsive buy IMO.
I'm sorry but, unless somebody can show a past deal, anywhere on the internet, for a new 46" LCD thats <= this price, then this stands as the cheapest in history as far as I'm concerned! No matter what you think of the technology, a historical low price is SMOKING HOT! SD sure is full of thread crapping these days....
I agree it's a great deal, but it's not a historical low price. I purchased a 46" Insignia from Best Buy less than a month ago (also a "Deal of the Day"), and there were several (no-name brands) offered for about the same price online during the Holiday shopping season. So while rare, it's not uncommon.
I have a decade old Dell Ultrasharp LCD that, to this day, still blows away all but a few of the best monitors available today.
I found this comment to be interesting .
I still use my Dell 1800FP, which was their flagship product a decade ago and cost over $1,000 new. But compared to even the cheapest 23" LED monitors available today, the thing's a monster in size, uses twice the power & has nowhere as good a picture. However, as I use my desktop exclusively for productivity applications, there's no need to replace it. I actually retired the 2.4GHz P4 system it came with less than a year ago, and only because it would cost me at least $60 to upgrade the memory whereas I purchased a cheap system from the Lenovo Outlet for $120 shipped.
