AT@T Phone Out of Contract

Looking to upgrade my half-working HTC Inspire I've had for a few years now. But I don't want to extend my contract with AT@T.

What is the best way to go about getting an out of contract phone? Really open to any phone as long as its a good deal.

Try Craigslist or better ebay.

I bought a photon 4g from a ebay selling company and the company has very good customer service. The battery was having problems and they have agreed to refund the cost of the cheapest OEM battery available on ebay.
The phone was listed as heavily used and screen having scratches, but to my surprise it came with the screen as scratch less. I think reputed companies on ebay overstate the extent of use / abuse of the phoens, so that the customer gets good item.

I tried a local seller who was 30% expensive and the same model of phone was in really abd shape.

Another good place is cowboom.

I'm looking for the same thing. Android phone for less than $100 preferably.

I'm looking at new phones on ebay.

I've taken interest in the HTC One X and the Nokia Lumia 920. Both around $300.

I like the HTC brand because that is what I currently have, and this has honestly been the best phone I've ever owned,

But the Lumia looks so sleek and I like the windows phone layout.

Does anyone have opinions on either of these phones? Either reasons I should or shouldn't buy them.

Cowboom has good deals but they charge tax to everyone. If you buy on Craigslist bring an active sim card with you so you can test the phone. It's rare but AT&T phones can be reported stolen. I would go with the One X over the Nokia.

Buying one of there prepaid phone is another alternative. Looks like they have a cheap android phone for around $100. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_hi...1361145715
