depends on what new games we consider, some console ports won't even run on high using a $300 GPU so...

most companies seem to optimize the games better and better right now from what i've seen, probably because they finally realized that most people buy their computers at best buy and not custom build them

take metro 2033, GTA IV or Crysis for example when they were first relased, barely any computer could handle the games without lag

How are you guys finding these. I tried searching for a XPS 8500 with Windows 7 for $1475, no luck. Care to share?

I had been going direct to Dell (outlet & home) coupon page(s). Was also monitoring this particular posting and went into (search - "Dell") and looked in amazement to a posting for
President Day coupons - (third new item, for the morning). Thinking it was the ones I was aware of already - TURNED OUT to be totally new ones. Had been expecting a 20% off
8500 (high inventory in outlet) - but this was for 25% - by the time I got there, the one I already picked out was gone (and I was early). Picked one up, decided on another (then Dell fouled up the discount) - no Dell reps/chat - so simply found another, more expensive - but what the heck - ordered it.also.

The President's Day Doorbusters that I posted includes the XPS 8500 SE for $999 (new - not outlet), although that one only has 12gb RAM and 32gb SSD. Otherwise the specs look the same.

From EST - 8PM to 7AM, while supplies last - under the new 8500, Dell home. The posting, because of the 660 has been thumb down a lot; but, everyone missed some important sale notes and this was one of them. It is worth a look tonight at this
custom built. Why the big discount? My (mistaken?) understanding is that some new
INTEL hardware is coming out; besides, the 8500's have just not been selling except with discounts!

ok deal for prebuilt. probably would have been better to buy when they have a special with monitor and then just added the extra compenents yourself.

OK, these are Now (Finally) in-stock, there are 2 of them right Now and they should be keeping them in stock for weeks to come as in the past.
As soon as they sell they add one or two more, usually right away, as in the past.
There might be a delay from time to time, however, they will keep coming, keep looking if not there when you look.
