random question. Could you convert these to use in house surround sound? I have a 8inch sub but kinda want to rig it to 10 inch. Would that theoretically be possible?

It depends on what impedance your subwoofer amplifier is designed to run at, as well as the size of the enclosure it is going in. If you can provide what type of powered subwoofer you have, I or someone else on here can point you in the right direction. I am probably going to steer you toward something else though, even though this is a great deal on a good entry level sub.

I did it...I have a 8in powered sub in my home theater and I swapped out the speaker for 10in...I had to cut the hole bigger to get it to fit...but it was well worth not having the distorion from the smaller speaker being over driven.

I have the same sub, which is a 10" subwoofer. You wouldn't have to cut out much, but due to the higher power of this sub and the fact that the amplifier is 50 RMS, I would look elsewhere for a replacement. Is your subwoofer blown or something?

I would get an enclosure to fit the specs of a 10in sub and not an 8. Could be losing power, or worse damage it.

Speakers should NEVER been SWAPPED OUT LIKE THAT.

Its always best to get the speakers measurments n then build a cabinet for a certain outcome(ported,sealed, certain db's)

How returnable are these?

I'm not 100% sure I want these but don't want to miss a good deal.

Thinking about ordering two and holding them a few weeks before I figure out what to do with them.

You are incorrect. If you are building from scratch, fine. However, for general use, most subs will function well in a well built prefab enclosure.

NEVER is a strong word...you make it sound like the world will end if you swap out a speaker.....for those that know nothing about speakers......if the speaker is the same ohms and fits in the enclosure it will work without damaging the amp...a 500 watt speaker will need more then 50 watts to "drive" it...but it will still make sound but not to its maximium designed output. However on the other side of the coin....if you put a speaker rated for 50 watts on a 500 watt amp you risk the chance of blowing up the speaker and possibly damaging the amp if you excede 50 watts....I am probably over simplifiying this but it CAN be done.
