Cheap way to port landline phone number to google voice?

Initial Z 92 February 16, 2013 at 03:36 PM in Tech & Electronics (2)
Hello, I recently bought an Obi110 to replace my current landline phone service. I want to keep my landline number. I don't understand the full details yet, but I think it goes something like this:

- Get a cheap sim card.
- Port my landline number onto the sim card.
- Port sim card to google voice
- Set up Obi110 with google voice

Here's what I was thinking on the sim card, but I want to make sure with you guys this will work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SIMPLE-MO...2a248e24be
I don't have a tmobile phone, but I think I might be able to find a friend that has an old tmobile phone.

If that won't work, will this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-T-Mob...3a7d31d292

The difference I can see from the two above choices is the first one is just a sim card, and the second one is the card + activation kit?

If none of these will work, can you suggest an inexpensive alternative option?

My porting process was completed this morning. It took two and half days to port from Verizon landline to TMobile and another day to port from that to Google Voice. It cost me $33.45 - $3.45 for Tmobile SIM, $10 Tmo credit and $20 fee to tranfer into GV.

But now I'm in a quandary. I did all of this to save money on my Verizon bill. I have Triple Play for which I was paying $87/mo inc taxes. Now after dropping phone service and TV (I'm just using an over the air antenna) the cheapest internet-only service they can offer me is $69.99. Cablevision offer a $30 internet-only service but I'm in the black books with them since I went into a sulk a couple of years ago when they started to hike up my bill. I refused to pay and switched to Verizon. When I called to check price a couple of weeks ago, they said they would only offer me service if I settled that bill.
