I already have the Harbor Freight, and I hesitated for a moment getting this one because I questioned if I really needed another....but then I recalled that almost every time I grab the Harbor Freight one, I'm annoyed by having to tote an extension cord. And also, how in the near future I have a bunch of cutting to do in an attic of my rental property, with no convenient outlet...yeah, I need it...
I do acknowledge that I have been less than satisfied with Craftsman tools in general. I consider them cheap tools, on par with Harbor Freight, but that does not mean they don't have a place in my toolbox. I'll spend more on things I expect to use very frequently for an extended period of time, like when I was tiling a whole house and needed a drill for mortar mixing. And I have a policy of returning Craftsman tools rather than trying to deal with their phone support: Craftsman once told me I needed to pay for phone support when I couldn't get their air compressor working out of the box, which was probably due to a combination of my never having used one before and their instructions being totally incomprehensible....but, they didn't tell me this until they'd wasted hours of my time on hold, transferred me all around, and hung up on me multiple times. Not going to get on that particular merry-go-round ever again... Overall, I've been very happy with my other Nextec tools: the right angle driver, drill, sander, and circular saw. I'm impressed by battery life and pep for 12V tools. While I readily acknowledge there are better tools out there, for the price I think Nextec is a good value. And Nobama just saved me a ton of money, since I didn't expect the blades for my Harbor Freight would be compatible and would have bought a bunch of new ones unnecessarily. Thanks for the tip! |

I have the HF corded multi-tool as well and rarely use it now that I have my Nextec... Also, the older HF blades won't fit the Nextec, but the newer versions do. Additionally, the Craftsman blades won't work on my corded HF tool, but there is an adapter that's included in the Craftsman blade kit. The hole in the adapter is too small, and the included screw is also too short, and the Nextec screw won't work. I got a longer screw at Home Depot to fit the HF tool, and then drilled out the adapter hole to fit. Voila, now I can use any blades with either of the tools. |
