This rate has nothing to do with Carnival. Look at the date of sailing, right during hurricane season. Go look up the Sandy videos. Disney has 2 ships out there, people were bitching about the conditions, but no one forced them on the boat.

Is $1000 per person for 7 days for an inside state room even that great of a price? For $800 you could get a balcony on Royal Caribbean [cruises.com]

Or spend a week at a 5 star all inclusive in Cancun and not have to be confined to a cruise ship.... But to each their own I suppose

Yeah, Disney cruises are ALWAYS more expensive than other cruise lines. I've never sailed on Disney, so can't say it it's worth it.

To all first-time cruisers : sail other cheaper cruise lines and see if you like cruising first. Not worth it to splurge on the most expensive cruise line just to find out you get sea-sick very easily.

BTW, I love cruising and I've cruised 4 times on Carnival, and once on RCI and NCL. The recent Carnival Triumph incident will not affect my decision on whether I sail or not. Cruising is my favorite type of vacation, but it may not be for everyone, so try a cheap cruise and get a feel for it first.

I think we did a 3-4 day cruise on Disney after 3-4 days at Disney World, but this was when I was like 10. The last cruise I went on was on Carnival two Decembers ago, outdated ship, stale food, expensive drinks... all around a pretty bad time. I personally would go again, but on RC or maybe Holland... but my wife said no more cruises so no more cruises for me

plenty of better deals out there on NCL, RCCL and even Carnival (The recent incident is very isolated as newer ships, 2009 and on, are required to have dual engine compartments in case one is disabled the other engine still functions).

Just went on NCL Epic and it was the best of over a dozen cruises we have been on.

best place to book a cruise is on www.cruisecompete.com. think of it as lending tree format for cruises. u pick the cruise and agents bid on ur ticket price.

I was on a RC ship that blew an engine right when we were dining on the first night. A perfect pairing would have been a stateroom viewing of either the Titanic or the Poseidon Adventure. The ship was a complete POS that we later found out was due for retrofit after our sailing! There was even multiple cabins flooding at the same time from faulty plumbing systems.

We were a sea during Sandy. One port of call was cancelled and we were chased by the storm all the way to port. I would hope that all infirm and wheelchair bound people would have learned a valuable lesson, but it seemed as if their excessive rudeness during inclement weather was an obvious clue to their intent to run over or crash into guests trying to have a good time despite the weather.
