It won't be just the two of you on the Disney cruise... Add the cost of two kids as well.

Little known fact, the Kids Sail Free deal is still available for select cruises this spring but you have to call. Only have cruised Disney and LOVE IT! Yeah there's kids stuff but guess what, my 4 year old I barely expect to see for our next one.
If your kids are into characters the face time on the cruise is HUGE. Done the Alaska, Baltic and Med, and multiple caribbean. If you have kids along it's awesome! BTW no casino, no charge for drinks except alcohol. First run movies, saw Cars 2 when it was released on ship. |

"Almost everyone who has cruised with Disney LOVE the experience." Where did you get the info to make that statement? The internet told you so? Having grown up all over Florida, and ending up in the Brevard county area around 10 years before Premiere's Big Red Boat bit the big one, I call BS. I have never been on a Cruise of any sort. I was however a cab/shuttle driver for pretty much every freaking Saturday and most of the other run's for over a year. It's around an hour ride from either airport (MCO & MLB). 10 people crammed in a van for an hour going home from a vacation and I am the first person who wasn't there. Yeah I got many many many earfuls. Families traveling with Disney who had kids in their tweens LOVE the Disney Cruises. All kinds of stuff for the squirts to do that don't require the adults presence. Workshops and the like. If your kid isn't old enough to be a latchkey cruiser, you're screwed. Good luck getting your 15 year old to give a **** about the characters or macaroni art time. If you a cruise queen/king with a love of food, pass on disney. Even the Disney mega fans who will forgive the evil mouse any and every transgression were underwhelmed with the chow. If you like kraft Mac & Cheese and hot dogs, you're golden. Nobody ever mentioned turkey legs, so can't help you there. I heard tales of throngs of people and slim chances in hell of getting a deck chair anywhere. The TV channels suck, and the bars are more often than not empty. The cabins are nice, the staff is great and you really do get a WDW kind of time. Teenagers and adults alike all raved about Castaway Cay in the Bahama's. Said it made the trip and they wished the whole damn trip had been done there. They would regale me with all these redonkulous things that irritated the crap out of them, and say they were booking again next year because Disney Cruise's is the only way to get on Castaway Cay. ![]() Hell I am debating going because I am dying to see the Dutchman ![]() The thing I heard most often, in varying forms, languages and verbiage was this: Not bad, but next time we are going on __________. <-- Usually something they saw docked that looked awesome from their house of mouse at the port. Oh and if you want to have a good time with some alcoholic beverages, you apparently need to take out a 2nd mortgage. So basically, if you are a Disney mega fan and are itching to ride Mickey's junk. Go. You will have a good enough time to forgive all their transgressions and robbery the same way you do in the park. You can stand the lines, inconvenience, insane cost and massive throngs of people because you love the House of Mouse. If the prospect of going to WDW makes you want to jam a spork in your eyeball and you only go "for the kids" for the love of all that is good and holy don't go on a Disney Cruise. This is the state where scum balls sat around waiting for the X or Y tag ending to choose a proper victim.

well as someone said carnival incident was isolated. i went on my first cruise with parents, wife and kid on a 4 night bahamas cruise on Carnival and it was awesome. Gr8 food, gr8 service and a real party ship. we had a royal carribean docked besides us at bahamas and it was like dead - no fun , nothing. carnival was truely a party atmosphere.
i took 2 different rental cars in florida for my cruise and inquired about cruise lines and both different car companies said the same - carnival to party and for young crowd. RC to relax and old age crowd. disney is daycare on water...: ![]() well its just my opinion and i could be wrong as it was my first cruise. i am planning alaska on norwgeian or holland next. |

I would not spend $5k on a cruise but rather fly somewhere far away and vacation. |

Done the cruises multiple times. Recommend going and getting the Rainforest room on Dream or Fantasy. $15 gets you a day pass in there, usually wife and I get 3-4 days. Hot tubs watching the ocean go by, hot stone chairs and great saunas/steam rooms.
Food fare can be very good, top deck has more "fast food". Dining rooms do a rotation for serving lunch and breakfast. One breakfast you have the option of attending is the Character breakfast like at the Crystal Palace in Disney World. Characters move around the dining area and the wait staff entertain you as well making napkin "treats" for you to wear. Not for everyone but kids seem to love it. Animators Palate one of the nights will give you a bring your animation to life. You draw it and it gets animated by the disney "imaginears" on board. Other nights in Animators will include getting a "turtle time with Crush" experience like at Epcot. Food in the main dining areas is AWESOME. I'm a picky eater but I don't hesitate ordering more than one app or entree'. Even have had to leave due to kids being tired, they actually get room service to deliver your food to you. In room entertainment if you don't want to do the shows, DVR like functionality on the room entertainment system. First run movies, if it's a new movie in theatres it's available on ship. Saw Cars 2 opening night in St. Petersburg Russia for instance after seeing the Russian ballet on board. Pirates night is awesome too. YES you get your turkey leg on! I usually go through about 2 and enough desert to get sick. There are quiet areas on board and a deck dedicated to kids activities. FYI Flying Dutchman at Castaway Cay was no longer there as of March last year.

i can vouch for the person that said people who sailed with disney loves it.
i've been on multiple disney cruises. after sailing the first one, i will not sail on other cruise lines, not even royal caribbean, my 2nd fave. so those who haven't sailed with disney before should really try it before knocking it. |

Right cuz hey, 200+ people with no relation to one another over the course of a year all bitching about the same crap...totally can't be any truth to it. When I have a van full of folks, and the Disney Cruisers are jealous of the Carnival cruisers, I take the hint. Very few, even those who had a great time, felt they got their money's worth. I won't live it, because I am not a moron willing to piss 2k down the drain on something I have ample evidence and cause to believe I won't enjoy. Looking at what is available on the web and knowing how Disney operates, I will trust what I saw and heard in person. Disney cruise is a big ol' pass for me unless I take the nephews. If you go I genuinely hope you have a great time. Many many did. Ignore it or heed it, doesn't matter to me. I didn't earn the thousands you are going to fork over. |

The value I got for the cruise I took last September on the Dream using a Florida resident discount was more then worth it. I'd rather deal with these massive amounts of kids you speak of vs overly drunk adults. |

Won't go on a cruise until they begin registering the ships in the US. All are registered in the islands or somewhere with laxs laws to benefit the ships not the passengers. You get no protection, someone falls off, and they try to not turn back, they see a stranded sailors in waters drifting and don't bother to help and 2 of the 3 sailors later died, rape and crime on the ship not fully investigated or justice sought.
A) Days on water eating with strangers vs B) vacation on island with your choice of restaurants, activities, and autonomy. I'll take B anytime. Superoceans Threads &Rebate tracking worksheet &Frys Rebate FAQ
