Just curious, how old is your set? Asking because the pic for the 3 ton at Sears is different than what they are selling (since last year).

In for one. I need a jack and having extra jack stands never hurts. I also was able to add $10 SYWR bucks so that really makes it a sweet deal.

I have this and have no problem with lowering the jack.

Use the same bar that's used to lift the jack and put the end of it over the lowering "knob". Use two hands on the bar and carefully loosen the knob, just enough to release the "tightness" of it. Then slowly turn the bar to lower it down.

My brother had to resort to pliers, needle-nose mind you, to lower it, which I think gives you less control.

After a couple of practice, it's a piece of cake.

Not the 3 ton. The handle is fixed and works through bevel gears to operate the valve.

Thanks. The one in the Sears pic has flanged sides and mine bought in '11 has straight (when I bought mine, they were showing the flanged sides, too). I'm thinking we could have different designs, hence, differing performance. Just sayin' that anyone using the ones today ought to get used to the way it acts before they do anything when it counts.

well as someone who didn't realize there was a code EARN10 and realized 5 minutes after ordering...is this an additional $10 or a flat $10. I tried to alter the order immediately, but Sears doesn't allow that or cancellations.
