Every time I order something like this from Best Buy, I eventually get an order cancelled email.

I've installed a somewhere around a dozen of these over the last four years. I haven't had any issues with any of my customers who are actively using them - both in theater and living room environments.

If I needed some, I'd try to seek them at this price. $149.99 was the sweet spot before the clearance.

they actually had an open box as well at the store

The main thing that goes wrong on these (and lots of others too) is the power supply board. Even when you have the unit powered "off" or switched to auto-on with signal, the board still stays powered. That is, as long as it's plugged in, it's "on" at some level. If you want it to last longer then you might hook it up to a protector strip and switch it on and off as you need it (or just off for longer periods when you're not using it).

I've had two of both these and the S10s. I've had to swap the PS board in one out of four over probably 8 - 10 years. Don't recall the cost offhand but it wasn't a lot. Fairly easy repair if you're at all handy - Pull the back panel, look for the circuit board that connects to the plug, pull the connectors and unscrew it, swap in the new one, reassemble, done.

For the money -vs- performance, they're great. Not the smallest or most sophisticated, but as a simple sub they do what they're supposed to do pretty darn well. A great deal at this price. If I needed one, then I'd do it no question.

This was the first sub I ever purchased, I really don't remember specifics about it but I liked it. Good for casual listening in smaller spaces, but don't expect it to play very deep for movies. I think I paid $200 from wwstereo, sold it for about $160 on clist, ended up getting an svs pb10-nsd. World of a difference. Ended up selling that too though

Not a waste of time in my case. You may have to hunt but I have gotten my whole system on clearance and open box, Recently.

Picked up one today..box had huge gapping hole on the side but decided to take it anyways. When I got home I unboxed it ans saw little dent on top of cabinet. For the price i got it i will take the hit. Have to wait till cable gets here from blue jeans. Really like the looks will complement the mirage nanoset I have also.

just placed an order for one in my area, crossing my fingers that they don't cancel my order.

Happy with Mirage's MM-6 sub, which is similar to this one but smaller, a bit more power too. Great designs. Won't boom a big room, but great for Transformers and making movies fun.
