Everybody has then own preference but I can guarantee you more people would take a mac over a windows if money was not a factor. This Macbook Pro has nearly the same upgrade options as most Windows laptops. (ram, upgrade ssd/hdd, remove ssd/hdd for raid array)

So I just buy base Macbooks when I get them on sale, use them for a few months and then sell them for a profit. This way, I can always get the newest macbook fore free. I scrapped my hackintosh to make it a Windows rig. It now is a hexa-core i7, 24GB of ram, and a 3GB GTX 580.

How well does SLI and 3D gaming work ( as in 3D glasses needed) in the Mac OS?

To all potential buyers reading this thread: take what everyone has said (positive and negative) as a inky dinky grain of salt and make your own damn choice based on your needs and budget. Can't always have your hands held in every purchasing aspect

I try to avoid buying non LL/A models because of resale down the road, and plus don't some countries have localized keyboards (printed on the keycaps)?

I originally looked this page up because I bought from eBay seller johny641 (deals are often posted here on SD, for example: http://slickdeals.net/f/5664868-j...bay-bucks?)

I bought from there and it ended up being E/A, and there was NO mention of this In the auction page at all (referenced LL/A in title, description, etc). It was a pain and I had to pay return shipping. I really hate eBay sometimes, since I can't even leave negative feedback for misleading auction and I see this seller is even featured in eBay's own "deal of the day."

Retina 13" Pro or Retina 15" Pro if you are choosing an Apple laptop

I'd wait for Haswell before buying either though.


If you want a Windows based laptop , there are lots of high end ones to choice from but you might not be able to afford them.

Here are some simple examples:
For a 15.6" workhorse I'd recommend the HP Elitebook 8570w ( get the 10 Bit IPS panel option)
For a 13" tablet I'd recommend the Fujitsu Lifebook T902

Panasonic ToughBooks are nice as well.

It does not work... I have an Nvidia 3D Vision set up but I do not use it since 3D gaming/movies are overated anyways. Mac OS does take SLI but only works with a select few cards. Why would I need to SLI on a mac?

Buying a Windows based machine doesn't mean that you can't afford a Mac based one.
