Funny, I made a make-shift keyboard cover by using cling-film precisely to avoid the crumbs and hair. My keyboard is pristine. |

You probably got the original model which is less noisy. They replaced it with newer model which is slightly different. Do a search and you will see that the current one being sold has loose and noisy keys. I bought three from costco and all three had the same problem. NOISY keys. If this is the older version then it's great, if it's the newer one then it sucks. |

friendly reminder:
remember to tip on the original bill and not the discounted bill. Remember coupons are a marketing tool for restaurants and they [restaurant, not the servers] are the one taking the "hit". Whether the food was discounted or not, the service was the same for the portion of food. (and before you say "No duh!!", you wouldn't believe how many people leave their brain at home when they come to eat ) |

I've had one for over a year, it's a pretty nice keyboard. The Pro's are obvious (No AAA batteries, solar recharge, etc.) It will not get enough power from the monitor lighting in the room (I have a 32" TV and 22" monitor running with no other light, and it is far in the "red zone" on the app) however the reserve will last you a long time (several days) with just web browsing. There is a little lithium-ion rechargeable battery that costs about $10 retail ($4-7 online) that is used to "store" solar energy (ML2032 model battery).
Your problem comes in with gaming. When I was playing games for several hours a day, I'd eat through my keyboard energy reserve charge at the rate of 20-30% per day with insufficient lighting (I have a light fixture in my office that takes 4 fluorescent tube lights, but has a decorative grating over it. I had to remove the grating to get me into the 250-300 Lux range which gave it ample charge to stay at 100% even while gaming heavily - without gaming I would've been fine with leaving the grate alone). The plastic over the solar panels scratches insanely easy. I was trying to baby it when I first got it, even using the lint free cloth to wipe it caused scratches. It's scratched pretty bad after a year now, but it does not seem to have any degradation in function. The text on the keys are just painted on, my up arrow has completely worn off within a year, however all of my other keys are perfectly fine so that may have just been a defect (or I've pressed the up key an absurd amount of times). Hope this helps someone make their decision. |
