Maybe you're right, but it is $30 cheaper than the refurb 660s in the Dell Outlet.

(Of course, it's a declining market, with few college students interested in owning a desktop.) Its slim form factor & lower power consumption makes it acceptable for HTPC usage - although it is deeper than competing slim form factors.

Yes, better deals have been available but they're generally applicable for limited close out inventory. (This probably qualifies as well with Dell transitioning to the new Ivy Bridge Celerons soon.) And many will argue that Dell has better build quality & warranty service than its competitors.

It is also good as a replacement desktop, but if one had to buy a monitor, the Lenovo FP deal is probably a better option.

What time does this go live?

More than enough for most people's basic need. Don't need more for a facebook/email machine.

This is a very low-spec PC, but it does not deserve a thumbs down. This is cheaper than anything you can normally find on the Outlet on a typical day. The SFF is a plus in many situations. This will work well for many lower-income/underpriviledged folks (retirees, fixed-income, working class, self-supporting students etc.). If necessary, you can easily do a memory upgrade for $20 or so when the next RAM deal comes around.

Hell, as an HTPC, this will smoke many/most/all? network media players/media extenders/bookshelf systems that cost upward $200 if you can live with this not-so-large form factor. You can use it as a combined HTPC / file server if you plug in external drives into it. Add a CableCARD tuner if you have cable TV and save monthly fees for your DVRs.

Possibilities are endless. Yes, most of us do (or at least want to) buy better-configured systems for this. If you can afford something better, go for it by all means. But this certainly does NOT deserve a thumbs down.

This is a usable machine, there's no doubt.

But it's not worth $250. I got 6GB RAM and a 3rd gen Core i3 and a 1TB HDD for $260.
