yeah sears craftman, I stay away from their stuff. Snap-On is what I keep hearing is the best for tools, but I also heard they are exspensive as hell.

The 1/2" is used for your car lugnuts, car suspension fasteners, many engine internal fasteners, etc. Most people start out getting the 1/2 first. The 3/8" is used for example for your valve cover, oil pan, transmission pan, timing cover bolts. Many who work on their own cars end up also getting the smaller one. THIS SPACE IS FOR RENT. Just ouf of curiosity, have you used that specific one and if yes, have you done any experiments on it's acccuracy and/or repeatability? |

1) If you want something for lug nuts, get the 1/2 inch drive - 'use the right tool for the right job' 2) If you are a casusal user, these Craftsman torque wrenches should last you a long time. They are calibrated instruments that should be treated with somewhat more care and not tossed around lIke a box wrench. 3) Keep them in their case when not in use and always remember NEVER LEAVE ANY 'CLICKER' TORQUE WRENCH SET AT THE WORKING FORCE WHEN DONE USING THE WRENCH - store at it's designated low point to relieve stress on the internal components. 4) Never attempt to drive a 1/2 inch diameter spike with a tack hammer. (just sayin') |

I've never seen a Torque wrench for less than $60 before. The reviews illustrate why this item is so cheap.
At Advance they have an Autocraft one for the same price. That one also has a slight issue with locking mechanism. No issue with the wrench breaking though, and you can probably use a coupon with it. Some people on this site are just ignorant. Yes, a lot of times stuff goes on sale for the sake of going on sale. Sometimes stuff gets deeply discounted because it is discontinued. Sometimes stuff gets deeply discounted because it's a bad product they are trying to get rid of. I believe this to be the case here. |

I wonder why someone who pays enough attention to their work as to want the correct torque would bother with either this deal or the HF? Spend some money and get accurate readings.

By the way, no one keeps the case... it's worthless. It's basically a decent blow molded tray with cheap plastic over the top (like a blister pack) that is screwed down with 6 screws that barely hold down the plastic since they just cut through it. You'd have to buy something else to keep it in. |
