i7 dual core with hyper-threading. Q in processor name indicates four core. (all i7 have hyper-threading which in effect doubles the number of channels. i.e. a four core with hyper-threading performs with those applications able to make use similarly to an eight core processor).

tigerdirect.com is not price matching. "Good price and below my cost, I won't be able to price match that." If anyone finds a site that will please let me know, this looks like a decent replacement for my Toshiba i3...

RAM and HD capacity I find is completely irrelevant here. You are paying for the i7, while it may not be dual-core, it has many other features built into the processor that beat out the i5, and performance as well. Unless you are utterly lazy to take off a couple screws and pop in another module, then the Staples one is for you. As well, HD size isn't too big of a deal as most would go to SSD and from there you could make a second bay out of the optical or external it.

Oh and resale value on the i7 is better for the future.

My wife's z580 is heading into the shop today. Bad CPU or System board or something. But here's is the i5 version. Works great except for the random freezing and BSODs... Extra $100 for the i7 seems like a decent deal. Oh, but it only has 4 gigs of memory and a 500gb hard drive...

Don't think that's nearly as good of a deal then.

I had a similar problem like that with the V570 when I first got it, but after some googling, uninstall the VeriFace software and that should fix the problem.

Knowing Lenovo the 4gb is a single module. So that is easily upgradable by adding a second.

I put in a new HDD and installed Win7 from scratch and it was still having locking up issues so mine isn't a SW thing...

My z570 failed to power up after the second day of use. Had to send it to Lenovo depot and they replaced the bad motherboard.

Wow. I can honestly say I will never buy another levnovo Idea brand product again. The support is horrible.

Been on the phone for an hour to see about having it repaired.

They tell me to look up a local warranty place and take it in. I do and am told they only do Thinkpads and not Ideapads.

I call Lenovo back to get a list of where I can take it that actually works on Ideapads and am told they have no idea and I should just call every one that shows up on their website and ask each one.

Then they say that even if I do that, they'd have to charge me for things if anything goes wrong even though it's under warranty and is being worked on by one of their approved Warranty places.

I ask them to send me the parts myself (long shot) as I've been fixing laptops for 10-15 years and am first told they can but they aren't responsible for something that gets broken. They say no, the System Board is too complicated to replace so I'll have to waste the time and money to ship it in to them.

An hour into the call he takes a break and asks me how I'm doing today. What the hell do you think my answer is going to be. Jackass.

You made a mistake, call the Thinkpad line, dont tell them anything except giving your serial number, Thinkpad support is all in USA. And if they say it doesnt work, they will transfer you to someone in USA Ideapad, not some indian speaker. If they ask why you called there, just say you got transferred over here and hopefully you can get your issue fixed. As well, they will try to get you to ship the laptop to them on your dime. Just keep pressuring and say in the past they always gave you a label. Keep saying that and they will send you a prepaid label to ship the laptop back to them, or they will ship you a box.
