Is there really a need for 16GB? Or is that more for video editing?
Basically I'm building a gaming PC and I'm not sure if I should go with the 16 or 8 GB of ram.
A lot of people poo-poo 16GB as a waste, but if you do any photo/video editing you can make use of 16GB+ easily. 8GB is a good minimum for a modern build.
The notion that 4GB is still plenty comes from the fact that many games are 32-bit and thus can only access 4GB of memory, but can be a bottleneck because you've got OS and other applications running along with the games.
That RAM there was 64.99 like 2 weeks ago…of course there is tax, but still comes out to less than this for CL9 RAM. That was a better deal right? Obviously it doesn't help the situation here, other than to gauge this deal as not being all that good and worth it to wait for another deal.
nice work! i ordered 4 sets of ram, received 4 sets of ram today, and i will be receiving 4 more sets of ram tomorrow. not sure how I managed to convince them, but I'll take it. I was very nice and explained how misleading the picture is on the site. ordered two sets from each of my amazon.com accounts. I'm super psyched. putting 32gb (future proof) into my new M5A97 w/ FX-6300 (i don't game, just photo and video editing while running a remote desktop as well) and will be holding onto the rest for builds for family members coming up.
Got 25% additional off my order ! because of the mistake.
