I buy the $44 16-pack and gel deal from Costco whenever it comes up (which is valid right now until 2/24). 16 blades last me a year, but I shave every day and have fairly sensitive skin, so I trash them as soon as I can feel them pulling a little. It's also a good reminder for me to change my contact lenses.

but you can extend the life of your razor by running it up and down your jeans legs (stropping)... however if you have a moisture strip on your razor, well it isn't going to be there.. do you really need it with a good lather though?.. you'll want to do about 10- 20 strokes in each direction after each shave and then also storing it in something that repels moisture such as rubbing alcohol, baby oil, even cooking oil or olive oil... a small glass of baby oil in the corner of your bathroom counter works well.
Stropping.. the method used on straight razors (convex edges) in this case doesn't really sharpen the blade so much, instead it helps remove water and any left over residue on the blade edge which will cause it to start rusting and oxidizing. It will also help straighten any rolled edges and nicks the blades may have. The simple above methods should extend your razor life by a week (or more).. which extends your wallet a bit more.. if you can double your shaves out of a razor blade then you've doubled your money... if you can't get these methods to work, then you've lost nothing but a bit of time and you can use the baby oil on your girlfriend/wife for the next game of naked twister. |

This a good deal but if you don't mind using the Mach 3 still, the $4 coupon works for Mach 3 razors too, I was able to get S&S 15 cartridge for $20.20 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...duct_title

The trick is to DRY the blades after every use. Leaving them wet is what will get the blades dull the fastest. Take a towel and run the blades forward (opposite of shaving) on it to dry it off. Also, do yourself a favor and get a decent shaving cream (Art of Shaving, Proraso, Trufitt & Hill) and a cheap shaving brush. It'll make a world of difference. Grabbed the 8-pack from Drugstore for $19.54. Not sure why people are buying on Amazon for more. Last edited by cccheel; 02-18-2013 at 07:47 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

FYI, $10 reward bucks at CVS and a $4 coupon in the coupon section of the weekly circulars should prove to be a good deal. Haven't stopped by yet, but will be later today.
8pk of ProGlide Power Cartridges are $33.99. [cvs.com] $10 in reward bucks and the $4 coupon bring it to $20 for 8 PGP Cartridges. |

Double edge shaving is the only way to go, IMO.
Grab this Merkur Classic Razor off Amazon: http://amzn.com/B002A8JO48 And a pack of 100 blades: http://amzn.com/B001QY8QXM For $50, you get enough razors to last you a couple of years, a MUCH better shave, and bragging rights to your friends that you shave the old fashioned way! Shaving is a lost art that has become a rushed part of our morning routine instead of a time to pamper yourself. I recently made the switch to DE wet shaving and will never go back! Shaving has actually become fun for me. I really enjoy building my own lather using the bowl and badger hair brush. If anything, atleast get yourself a $20-$30 badger brush and start using that to apply your lather. It will raise the hairs on your face up and give you a better shave. My roommates said they are getting me rims for Christmas.. and a CB radio.. so I can talk to other car beds.
