Photoshop CS2 is an older version that Adobe recently released for free. Even prior to it being free, it was the last version of CS2 that I had purchased and will continue to use it until it will no longer operate on Windows OS (I currently run Windows 8 and have no problem with CS2). I've yet to find anything I need Photoshop to do that CS2 can't, and I use it daily. I highly suggest it.

Photoshop Elements is OK for your type of use but this bundles in video editing package as well. Elements by itself is commonly on sale for $50.

I believe that Adobe has training videos for Elements which should help with learning.

Really? Just did it two days ago after Windows 8 did its pathetic 'refresh/update' that scrapped my entire system aside from docs.

you can use the same key on both systems, win PC and Mac.. so one for yourself, win PC, one for someone else, Mac..
