Sup Corwin!

good price but i can't help myself to criticize how they count each bit and hex key as a piece in the set. they always do "fillers" like this lol.

i bought the 192pc set for $130 during Craftsman Club and Craftsman tried to pull the same stunt lol, so i realized i was better off buying 2 x 26pc wrench sets for $50 each, and a FULL 82pc socket set for $42. yeah that's right...i went back to the store and found the 26pc metric wrench combo set Made in USA! they had 2 left...the rest were all Made In China
yeah i spent an extra $12 but i got all of the wrench sizes i could need for a lifetime and every socket size in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 in both 6pt and 12pt.

but all in all, these mechanics tool sets are a good starting point. my girlfriend got me the 192 pc but i ended up returning it and buying different sets together. TU and Rep'd nonetheless (as usual)

Hey man, I was wondering when you'd show up. wave Yeah, this set does have some filler, but it could be worse, and as you know it's pretty hard to avoid. Glad you made out well with the sets in the end. Did you pickup that tool chest you mentioned so you can put everything in it?

I picked up the 118 piece Merchanics set last week. It was a good deal for $55, but I always felt that something was missing without the 1/2 in ratchet.

I mean the set has 1/2 in sockets, but you have to put the adapter on the 3/8 socket to use them. As most on the internet will say, the ratchets aren't the best, but they do come with a lifetime warranty. They are also kinda uncomfortable to use.

I'm gonna go ahead and return the 118 and get this set for $20 more. It just irritates me though that this set doesn't come with a 17mm deep socket, which is what I needed for my DIY last weekend. Luckily Home Depot sells singles. I got the socket for $2.49.

If you don't need the 1/2 inch ratchet, or don't mind carry a separate 1/2 inch set, it might be better for some to go with this set instead:
http://slickdeals.net/f/5861898-GearWrench-68pc-ratchet-socket-set-57-39-Advance-Auto-Parts-B-M

That is a very inclusive 1/4 and 3/8 set with 2 extensions and a much better selection of sockets. It's also a Gearwrench which is a respected brand.

I don't use mine too much, so i just want it all in one box. I will be getting this set today or tomorrow.

P.S. Does anyone know if the Craftsman Club Coupon will stack? I was actually going to buy this yesterday, but I was waiting for the Craftsman Club Coupon since 5 PM yesterday.

I was going to try one for you, but I just realized mine have expired. I kinda' have my doubts it would though. If I recall correctly, the last time I tried stacking a coupon like that on top of codes I got locked out of applying any coupons. YMMV of course, I'd give it a try if I had one.

I own this set and it is good...just one drawback...the case...when you open it...the tools often fall out of place....its a drag.

It shouldn't unless you open it upside down. My 118 set didn't have any issues.

At first I didn't like the sockets not locking into the place, but I heard with Crescent sets where the sockets do that, that they're so tight in there the you have to pry them out with a screwdriver. That sounds more annoying to me.

I have an older set that always gave me that problem, I eventually bought a tool box with drawers, put all the sockets on rails and then fit everything in one of the drawers.

I have the 200 piece set from a deal last year -- love it. Things don't fall out if you open it properly, except for the wrenches jogging out of place a little. But they stay put.

My only complaint with the set is I wish it came with some socket extenders. But I can go buy some and put them in the extra storage space in the box.

picked this same set up november last year for $79, this is a great price. I have used this set to change spark plugs on my honda accord, change my brakes, change the alternator and powersteering belts. It has pretty much everything you need. I don't believe it came with a swivel socket, but those are only $5 and i would highly recommend one for those tight places where you need to ratchet but just don't have enough room. Thanks and repped.

Edit: Will rep you once i spread some more reps around Smilie
