I don't remember that deal. Is it possible you're thinking of the 3TB WD Elements deal?

Picked one up with a 3 year Square Trade warranty for $12.39 using an expired 35% off coupon. Coupon said good through 2/15, but it went through fine.

I had one of these die on me after 3 months. It's a timebomb. Buy two and backup the backup.

Edit: It's a nice fast drive, but you'll be praying not to hear the knock-knock of impending drive failure

Maybe more so in the enclosure but some peeps use these internally. I would as well. In any case I'm not a fan of Seagate but if the price is right I may take the chance.

Actually you are wrong, I'm looking at this now and I'll wait until it's lower or the same as BF price.(I have patience) So thanks everyone who post BF price in threads.

Excellent speeds(USB 3.0), never had a problem. Although the usb cable might be shorter

For people thinking of buying these, make sure to keep the hard drive flipped vertically(the vents should face up)

I really need a backup for a 1.5 TB WD drive that's running out of space, but these stories about about quickly failing drives scare me. There's no way I would send back a month old drive knowing I have have personal information backed up such as personal and business financial data, passwords, etc.).

I give all of you credit who send back hard drives under warranty and trust the employees of the hard drive manufacturer and whatever 3rd parties they may used to refurbish the drives. I would just eat the cost.

In a previous thread, one poster mentioned that all he was asked to do was fax or email a printout or data file from software diagnostics he was asked to run by tech support. I gathered he just destroyed the drive and received a new one.

I still may take a chance on this one. Why does Buy.com/Rakuten.com charge less for this on their Ebay page than the Rakuten.com page?

Secondly, is this backwards compatible with USB 2.0? The 1st key features say that the interface is USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, but the 2nd group of features state:

On my MB I have only one PCIe slot and it is already taken;
Standard PCI add-on card it is just a tad faster than USB 2.0 and those cards are very expensive!
Since I have an eSata port available, I think the cheapest solution would be this one [newegg.com], but reviews says that it is getting hot while in use...
