Is this really a deal at $69.99??
I see this price for it usually... Shocked this hasn't come down more. "It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything." - Tyler Durden

So I just realized, with Disney's purchase of the Star Wars franchise, does that mean there's now "a new hope" for a re-release of an unadultered Blu-ray of Episodes IV-VI??
I still have my gimped theatrical DVDs (non-anamorphic), I'm lucky to even have that... HAN [and only Han] SHOT FIRST! |

Fox owns the distribution rights to the original trilogy and I think the prequel trilogy until 2020, and I doubt Disney would engage in such a lucrative project as re-releasing Star Wars in any version, let alone a restored theatrical edition, while leaving money on the table for other parties. In any case, George Lucas will still be heavily involved in the company, and I'm not sure how willing they'll be to buck him (even though he now only owns about half the company, and plans to sell off the half to Disney in the next two years).

As for this deal - still good, for the extra features and commentaries. About $20 savings over the normal price.
Morally speaking it is more legit to have an actual copy of the Blurays when watching edits that use them as their base (like Harmy's). |

Note that the deal only applies to new customers, so you'll have to create a new account to take advantage if you've already purchased something from yoyo before. Last edited by bilditup1; 02-18-2013 at 02:29 PM.. |

Still, its an achievement to go 15 posts in and find prequel hate. Usually its every damn post. Not sure why you're grouping episode 3 as a bad film. That one is at least as good as ROTJ. As for the rest, give it a break people, if you want the originals only go buy them stop forcing this prequel hate on everyone. |

Lawrence Kasdan (writer of Episode 5) is a big consulting adviser. Gay Gay Abrams? How dare they get a fantastic director and big fan of Star Wars to helm this. Why is anyone hesitant and scared for episode 7? |

I think the part that bothers me most about the prequels is that he needed to do everything his way, and he had some severe weaknesses that were not apparent when he was forced to collaborate out of necessity.
They didn't need to be this flawed. And his hypocrisy regarding changing ones own work by having Vader yell no at the end of ep VI and having Hayden be the force ghost was just the icing on the cake. |

Bought this at DeepDiscount for $58 back in Late 2011 when it came out. Just posting so people are aware of past prices. Though it seems like it has not been that low since:
