Last edited by redmaxx; 02-21-2013 at 10:04 AM.. Steve Gibson on password policies [grc.com]: I mean, I don't get this change it every eight weeks. ... It's not as if passwords are traveling by camel after they've been stolen, going to the bad guys, and so there's, like, some weird eight-week window, like, oh, we're going to change your password so that the stale password no longer works. ... And all this does is make IT people despised because users, who are not dumb, they think, why am I - why do I have to do this? What problem is this solving?

If you're using it just for e-mail and web, then yea you're wasting your money. I'm not. So I'm not wasting anything, this thing is literally perfect for me. |

Just a note on the Surface Pro's battery life, I've been using mine since launch and I typically get 5.5 hours doing nominal computing tasks, email, news reader, browsing and office. If you're doing intensive work that figure is going to be different of course. I want to add as well that most of the battery tests that were done on the surface involved the back-light being at 65% and I find that unlike my other tablets and notebook I only need the surface set about 30% screen brightness to be functional in bright environments. Get the surface, you won't be disappointed and if you are you have two weeks to take it back no questions asked.

Depends on your universe of "all windows applications". Tablets do not have the memory, disk space or firepower to handle high end stuff like db servers, exchange servers, biztalk, high-end games, Visual Studio etc. As noted elsewhere in this thread, I simply do not get the cost benefit factor for spending big on what imo is a stripped down laptop with far less firepower and functionality. But other's seem to disagree and think the added portability is worth the cost. Last edited by YanksIn2009; 02-24-2013 at 12:21 PM.. |
