The great thing about unlocking this way is that AT&T usually requires you to be at end of your 2 year contract before they unlock your phone. If you have an iPhone 5 for instance, you can have it unlocked NOW and still be under contract. This might be helpful if you wanted to leave them for some reason, etc.

How will we know when our phones are unlocked? I just did it. Kind of in the wrong order. Hope that didn't matter. I asked for unlock first, then I signed the petition.
