In the Rapid Rewards shopping portal, you can subscribe to New York Times digital subscription for 4 weeks for just 99 cents and net 1300 points for doing so.

https://rapidrewardsshopping.sout...?mids=3260

The good thing here is that SWA deposits the 1300 points at the 2 week mark at which point you can call 877-698-5635 to cancel the subscription so you don't pay the $15 after expiration.

This works out to 13.13 points per cent!

BONUS to make it even SLICKER:
Using the same rapid rewards shopping sign-in, you can sign up for two subscriptions to the NYT with a different name and credit card (your significant other?) and it will still deposit to the same RR account!

Cheers and happy flying!

Edit:
The disclaimer of "Not eligible on subscriptions cancelled prior to 120 days.", just means that accounts cancelled in the past 120 days are not eligible for this offer again.

Worked successfully for United points per Flyertalk with the same disclaimer:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mi...cents.html

Seems to be with most airlines too:

Rapid rewards shopping mall purchases do count toward your Companion Pass earning so this should count as well. See attachment.

Call this number to get your southwest miles. The csr told me that she would manually add the points to my account if they didn't appear within one week. it did go over by a few days, but i just noticed that the points DID just post.

Deal is DEAD for SWA[/SIZE]

From an ethical point of view, bear in mind that you're basically tricking the New York Times into buying you ~$15 of Southwest points. I suspect it would work, but I don't think it would be right.
Really you're just paying $1 for NYT to have your info... No where do they state that you need to commit to an active subscription with them after the 4 weeks are up.

1300 is hardly any miles? I think it's a good amount for Southwest at least.

Thanks for the tip.. I didn't realize you could get more detailed, current info at the RR Shopping site instead of just checking the main RR site.

https://x.rapidrewardsshopping.so...ma____.htm

Mine shows the 1300 points credited on 2/21 and removed on 4/10.

This thread has so many thumbs up I can't understand it. Did anyone read the thread in the op's link? Everyone that had miles added to their accounts had them taken away after they cancelled....

This was what was in my shopping account(doesn't show up on sw.com though):

Store Transaction Date Post Date Eligible Amount* Bonus Points Value
New York Times Digital Subscriptions
ORDER # 7670023 02/19/2013 02/21/2013 $0.00 1,300
New York Times Digital Subscriptions
ORDER # 7670023 02/19/2013 04/10/2013 $0.00 -1,300
New York Times Digital Subscriptions
ORDER # 7670069 02/19/2013 02/21/2013 $0.00 1,300
New York Times Digital Subscriptions
ORDER # 7670069 02/19/2013 04/12/2013 $0.00 -1,300

I did 2 subscriptions with 2 diff e-mails on the same sw rewards account. So I called the number in the wiki 214-932-0333 and they made some type of inquiry for me into it. Doesn't sound like I'm gonna get the points. How are people getting credit for the points who had them taken away?
