tempting...already have 16GB of RAM i bought from a deal at newegg the other day, but don't have mobo or cpu yet
i've been eyeing the bundles at microcenter, but haven't been able to make up my mind...i've also been tempted for a cheap i5 refurb.... ...
the problem if I buy tihs is getting a CPu at a good price

if you have a microcenter nearby, they usually have nice deals on the i5 without the required MoBo purchase

Exactly.

There's only 23 microcenters in the country (I have no idea why they don't expand, but I'll end my rant there). Take advantage. i5 3570k is only $190, i7 3770k is $230. Bundle with a board for $40/$50 off (can't remember the amount) & sell the board on ebay for just under what it goes for new. At the least, you come out even. Get a discounted SSD, etc, sell it or use it. That's what I've done.

Not a bad deal. Not a bad board & the cost to move to 16gb is greatly dropped. For a basic rig, it's a great way to go!

I have used a # of these in the past year, and it is a great motherboard, with decent overclocking features. Sure, I wouldn't be shooting for the moon, but with a decent air cooler and an i5/i7 k series, you can get 4.2/4.3ghz all day long with nice low voltages and temps. Of course you can go higher, but cooling might limit you. The board has voltage offset, plus and minus which is where its at, and where quite a few inexpensive z77 boards lack.

In for 2 more, hard to pass at that price. If I don't need them, I know I can at least get my $ back on CL.

Haven't built a new one in 4 years - so I'm rusty on the industry.

If I slap an i5 in here, will I be able to take the mobo built-in HDMI to a TV for HTPC use (in another room) and also throw my old GT9600 video card in the PCIe slot to run a monitor? Or can you not use the two video drivers separately and I'd be locked into one or the other?

Question 2: Let's say I have an extended desktop going where the TV is the second screen, but no one is currently watching the TV. That wouldn't slow down my gaming speed on the one screen right?
