I'm using a laptop with the same resolution, and coming from a desktop, it's hard to get used to. If I were to buy an external monitor, could I hook it up and use the hdmi port, and have a dual screen setup with laptop screen and external monitor?

Another laptop with a dedicated video card restrained by a screen that won't support more than 1366x768 ( however outputting to a monitor that does support the max res of the video card is not a bad option). This kinda sucks the life out of this deal. I wouldn't pay for this.

Darn - Would have grabbed this if it had the 1080p screen as well. Got a comparable Dell w/ the 1080p screen - 15r Special Edition w/ i7, same GPU, etc.
For those interested in something similar - keep an eye on the Inspiron 15r Special Edition. Specs are very, very close + 1080p screen/backlit keyboard. Was on sale for $749.99. |

If people continue to buy it, 720p resolution, manufacturers will continue to build/sell it. For 14", it should be 900p and for 15.6", it should be 1080p.
