Anyone have experience with Nikon refurbs?

the 90 day warranty bother me though.

if they refurbished it to new, then what's wrong with offering a full 1 year warranty? do they think this will fail more often?

I agree. Why is this only a 90 day warranty? That sounds more like a grey market camera and if it's not, then I think we need a new color.

it's not grey market. 90 day warranty is standard. it's the same from Canon and lots of companies

but I find it annoying since it's supposed to be like new. New is 1 year. So what they are saying is that refurbished is more prone to problems thus they don't want to pay that.

If they offered the exact same warranty and support as a new camera, why would anyone buy new? To save a shutter rated to 150,000+ shots a few hundred clicks? To avoid a scratch or two? The warranty is that way to differentiate the two options. Pay $1999 for it new, or save $400 and take a slightly higher risk of 90 days vs 365.

Also, note that it's not Nikon in charge of the warranty (like Canon does with their refurbished stuff). It's a 90-day B+H warranty

Wouldn't surprise me if, in this case, "refurbished" means they sent them to Nikon to get the sensor cleaned. So, probably more like open box than refurb.

not really.

people avoid refurbished just for the fact that it's not New. it's pretty noticeable on SD.

look at the refurbed Oly cameras. People still buy new even if it's got the 1 year warranty.
