ONKYO TX-NR414 5.1-Channel 3-D Ready Network Receiver for $199

The 509 was on sale for $150 on Amazon a couple days ago.... Compared to that this is not at all a good deal.

But 509 is not a 3D ready as 414; isnt that correct?

The 509 is 3D-thru capable. I was very skeptical of the 509 and all Onkyo receivers due to past experiences and poor reliability reports. Bought a used 509 from Amazon Warehouse deals for $138 and it had obviously been opened up. The front was ground down on the corners and the top was a little bent where it looked like they tried to re-attach the front of the receiver to the body of the receiver. I complained to Amazon and got 20% off. I must say it sounds great. MUCH better bass response than the Yamaha receivers I have owned, both through speakers and LFE. I just hope it lasts.

Sorry for being Naiive. But which one is better: 3D-thru or 3D ready. Does any of these need additional equipment etc. to watch on a 3-D tv. Basically I am asking whats the difference and which one of these is more advanced.

It's the same. Just means the receiver will pass through a 3D signal from the source to the TV via HDMI. Most of the current models of receivers are 3D ready. It's a common feature for receivers.
