This model has severe flashlighting problems. If you are lucky, you might get one without noticeable flashlighting. I got one from Sony store during Christmas for $539 (E-gift card deal). It had flashlighting from all 4 corners. When I called Sony, they wanted to set up a repair. The TV wasn't even a week old, so I declined the repair option and instead returned it.

I also got this same model for about $525 I think after the $100 free gift card and the ...Ford... deal right after Christmas (no taxes here, I also had a couple hundred dollars of Sony points so I was out of pocket about $325ish). I've had no problems, no issues with picture or backlight, looks good (and I read lots of reviews before I got it). I was replacing a 6+ year old 40" Polaroid, and I also have a 25" Hannspree. Which brings me to my only minor complaint. Sound on this doesn't compare to either. It's clear, and OK, for built in there is nothing ~too wrong with it, just saying compared to those it isn't nearly as good sounding to me. Both of those have considerably more bass. Prior to the 40" I had a 32" CRT with "Carver" speakers I think, built in sub and surround. The 40" didn't sound as good as that of course, but I didn't mind it. With this, I think I will be looking for a cheap 2.1 system or something, although I am getting a little used to it. Haven't tried streaming from the internet on it, I don't have unlimited broadband available here, so I likely won't. Working on converting some videos to stream from PC to try that out.

Isn't flashlighting just backlight bleed?
Never going shopping on Black Friday again. Did it thrice.
6.5 hours waiting. No 22" monitor. 11/24/2006Clothes shopping. $40 for a sweater? Forget that. 11/27/2009 Stuck in a parking lot for 5 hours. 11/26/2010 WHY DO I KEEP GOING BACK? |
