Do only old people buy GPS units now, or maybe a delivery man/woman?

I love an all-in-one device, but unfortunately the saying goes for these devices is this: "jack of all trades, master of none". When you start comparing the features of what a gps or digital camera can do vs. a smartphone then it starts to become more apparent of where the smartphone lacks. I'm on a diet and that's why I don't date fat chicks.

Drive 50,000 miles per year and then tell me your phone works as well as standalone GPS. Maybe someday but certainly not now. Your post was of no value to the discussion. To those of you that already have this model: 1) Does it have the technology that stores frequently used satellites to get faster satellite locks? 2) Is the recalculating quick or is it sluggish? 3) Does it announce when its recalculating? Just a heads up the best models on amazon seem to be the 50lm, 40lm, 50, and 40, they are $124, $90, $107 and $80 respectively so this deal seems like crap. and the ones I listed have about 1,700 reviews and are 4.5 star ratings versus this model which has 287 ratings and a low 3.5 star. the ones I mentioned are overall about the same price or CHEAPER so definately I would pass on this deal

simultaneous voice and data on cdma 3g only has worked on HTC thunderbolt and others for a while. I think GS3 does but only in LTE areas? My sprint evo wimax did it great. I would drive for 1hr while one Conf call and using wimax hotspots for us in car to view webex. Granted that 1hr was just from Brooklyn to Manhattan but Voice data whole time. |

I've always found that the stand alone GPS is better for the actual navigation. Smart phones are better for finding "points of interest". Once I got a smart phone I used my GPS far less than I used to but I still like having it. If I had it mounted in my car and always on I think it would get used for mapping more than my phone does.
