Aside from the fact that it isn't even 3X as much, never mind "quadruple" (I see it all around for around $900), I think the short answer is that it's not worth that much more if you can't afford it. If $2500 is even remotely a stretch for you, don't even consider this set. Like in everything else, the incremental return on higher priced items gets smaller and smaller with each jump. This is considered by many to be the best set of 2012, and as such it commands one of the highest prices. A lower-end plasma will still offer better PQ than most LCD sets that aren't multiples of its price... and even then its arguable that you have to have a truly bad plasma set to not be better than all but the top LCD sets. But if you have $2500 to blow on a large flatscreen, it's not going to get better than this.

As for that LG, have you seen this review?

I can imagine it might have better blacks, or is slightly better at fast action, but all plasmas inherently have this advantage over LCDs. Well LG announced yesterday, they are investing $760M in new plant to expand current OLED production line and will start mass production of OLED screens from Feb next year.

If you price match it at best buy another benefit in addition to the no interest financing reward zone silver membership (when you spend over 2500). This will entitle you to:
1, Free TV calibration
2. 60 day price match policy

Item number one may or may not matter to you but supposedly it is a $250 value. The nice thing about the 60 day price match is that the new sets come out in about a month and you get the benefits of any additional fire sales before they are gone without the risk of them being sold out. I originally wanted a GT50 but BB was completely out already and couldn't get anymore.

Got this for $2449 plus Tax by PMing BuyTvToday.com with Local BB about 3 weeks ago, awesome TV, returned 60ES7100 to amazon which i got for $1598, this has the best PQ even in a very bright room and aesthetically the one piece glass its like a 65" ipad with no plastic Benzel, simply gorgeous hanging on wall right now.

looks like a nice hdtv to rich for my pockets.

that looks tiny on your wall. is that really 65"? if so, man, you got some high ceilings up in there!!

This price has been around for over a month. Sorry, this is nothing new. Hope to see this TV near the $2000 mark within a month from now since the VT60 is coming out in April.

THE BEST TV until the 4K series come down in prices...even beating out my old pioneer kuro....about time really....lol...65" glorious viewing....get it calibrated tho.

yup..full 65"of glory...u got the high ceiling part right..its my living room and the ceilings extend all the way to second floor.

I was thinking the same about it looking small on on large wall.
I too have similar LR with high ceiling and windows on the south side. Wondering how this would handle the glare from those! What is your experience? Do u have windows on right or left of the TV? How is the day time viewing?

TV too small, you need to throw a projector image on that nice big wall of yours. Did that with mine but my room was too long and high ceiling prevent me from mounting it permanently. Also smart move hanging it on the wall as my plasma is covered with finger prints from the little ones.

2 of the walls are all windows, one to the right of the TV and another directly facing the TV, the one directly facing the TV is always covered with white curtains, the one on the right is always open but i never see its reflection in the TV. The TV being all glass it does put out some glare which is only visible in black scenes like harry potter, batman etc. The THX bright room mode is as good as a LED, i know coz i just returned a ES7100. Overall, my viewing is usually in the evenings anyway plus I am willing to endure some reflection during daytime but cud not stand the animated and non uniform PQ of LEDs.
I wud suggest, try PMing with BB, tehy will very gladly match Pauls as its a panny authorised retailer, bring it home, try it, if u feel its too reflective, BB offers free return pickup. Thats wat i did.

I thought about a projecter but that wud have been an overkill for a living room, already have a huge empty media room, gonna buy a projector for there later some day....We had a 65" mits for 8 years, and there's no way I wud ever go smaller than 65"
