I called the vendor directly and they provided me the exact amount of tax+tip that would be charged. Should be no surprises. Acceptable to me that tip is on pre-livingsocial price.

That's one thing I haven't been able to figure out with Groupon and LivingSocial. I never know when I execute the voucher if they are going to ask me to hand over more money at that time or that's full payment. Strange how that works.

Not sure I agree with you on your point though. Generally, it's accepted that you tip on the full, retail price of the meal at a restaurant.
