You're both partially correct. Samsung is now licensing SwiftKey on the GN2, or at least on the N7100 (I don't know about the US versions). It just uses their prediction software though. The "continuous input" as they call it is...ok in my experience, and combined with SwiftKey predictions isn't all that bad.

I've been using Kii keyboard for a while and I really like it. It's more customizable but it definitely lacks in predictions compared to SwiftKey, so I've kinda been jumping between the two lately. I really wish I could combine all my favorite keyboards: the customization of Kii, the predictions of SwiftKey, and the gesture typing and gesture shortcuts of swype would be an amazing combo.

For those missing the top number row, SwiftKey has number shortcuts on the top letter row that you can long press to select. In the advanced settings you can change the long press duration. I typically set mine to around 200 ms. I find that this strikes a good balance between accessing the shortcuts quickly and not accidentally long pressing them all the time.

I have the GNII but I never gave the stock keyboard much of a chance, I just went to Swype. Are you saying the stock is better than Swype?

Just updated. The prediction is as good as ever, but Flow is way behind the Android 4.2 gesture typing. I'll have to stick with the default keyboard on my Nexus 4.

Can someone confirm this? I know it may partially be personal preference, but I'm new to the Android (and all smartphones) and only have experience with the default gesture-typing that came with my Nexus 4. Is the SwiftKey app an improvement over the default Google one?

Switched to this from Swype because it was irritating me. I just wish that the "flow" feature was better at detecting double letters, such as loose, food, etc. I tried the same method as you use for Swype, which is to basically draw a circle on the letter, but alas it usually requires a retry or manual typing. Also, doing words like "was" never seems to work easily because the letters are too close I guess and the word itself is short.

I'm sure it will get better, but I may have to go back to Swype because little things like that are slowing down my typing.

I don't think to have that problem with my Jelly Bean keyboard powered by Google's own gesture-typing on my Nexus 4, fortunately. Maybe I'll just stick to the default keyboard and not purchase this app.
