I took the plunge and bought a 32g, what the heck.
Back in the day, I paid $1500 for a 1500 MB Maxtor Panther SCSI full size drive for a BBS I was running. I had to have that thing replaced under warranty once. About a month after the warranty expired the replacement died. I called Maxtor and the lady that answered said the drive had just been discontinued, and since they still had a warehouse full she'd ship me one more. It lasted about a year, . I used the sucker as a door stop in the garage for another 5-6 years! |

However, I've had bad experiences with them both before and after Rakuten's purchase. Not terrible and not 100% their fault, but I did have to spend a lot of time getting my issues resolved and Amazon probably would have just resolved them right away. Stopped buying from them for years after the first problem, went back after Rakuten's purchase and had a problem again. They'd have to offer a really good deal for me to return and this is just typical on sale prices. Last edited by Bootes; 02-20-2013 at 01:52 PM.. |

I have the 32GB model I bought at the end of Nov or beginning of Dec. Needless to say it will not format on me nowadays. Tried a few different format programs too. Doesn't matter. I think I was able to use it once or twice.

Rakuten is one of the largest retailers from Japan. i thought buy.com has been under their umbrella for quite some time now, but I guess they finally completely rebrand the site.
Also another perspective for those who are being discouraged by the negative reviews... You realized that Sandisk has sold over tens of thousands of these cards (with a company at this scale, I'm sure they've sold a lot more units than that)....that means those negative feedback are just a fraction of the number of happy customers. The majority of people don't really leave feedback or reviews unless something is really wrong with the product. so do the math yourself, the risk is quite low. Not to mention that you are also covered by lifetime warranty. p.s. I placed my order around noon today on the 32gb version and I have already received an email confirming shipment with a tracking number. Rakuten seems to be way better than buy.com so far
