I spoke to Amex prior to purchase and they said it's valid since it carries the Man warranty. It is a risk I am taking by going with the 60" but panasonic or Amex will take care of me if there is an issue. I was reading AVS forums and these plasma's are having vertical line issues. It's a gamble i guess. |

Ok, I have a question. I was debating between this model (UT50) and the ST50 at Sears which is $799 right now.
I was leaning towards the UT50 because of the cost and the fact that it was 55in. The glare I wasn't too worried about as I already have a plasma that has a pretty bad glare in my living room, but it doesn't bother me much. But then I went to Costco and saw this LG tv... the 55LM4600 for $699 as well. I decided to go with it because it comes with 4 3d glasses, and uses the non-battery passive glasses so i can get a bunch for my house for real cheap (as opposed to buying active glasses for $25-$50 a piece). I haven't seen much talk on slickdeals about the LM4600 though. I thought it was a great deal (as I do NOT need a smart tv) but I haven't heard many opinions. Any help would be great. Here are the three tv's for quick links to amazon: ST50 - http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-V...t50+plasma UT50 - http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-V...sonic+ut50 LG LM4600 - http://www.amazon.com/LG-55LM4600...=lg+lm4600 I have 90 days to return and switch out if people think i should. THANKS IN ADVANCE!! |

Panasonic makes the best plasma TVs hands down. The PQ even on their low end plasmas is outstanding. But do not underestimate the problem of glare from glossy screens. Any idiot knows that not an issue in most basements but in many family rooms and living rooms it's a huge issue...ambient light...daylight...not electric powered light. Then it's either a matte finish screen plasma and there's not many of them....or LCD/LED.

I´m watching the TV right now, that I bought at costco today for the price reported. The guy who said $599 was thinking of the 50-inch.
The glare was bothering me, but I just changed my viewing angle , with the lamp directly behind my head, and the glare disappeared. I was underwhelmed by the image quality but I followed the calibration directions here [plasmatvbuyingguide.com] and it's much better. I was disappointed that the I have to buy the wifi dongle separately to unlock the wifi features. Does anyone know if any usb wifi attachment will work or does it have to be the proprietary Panasonic one? I'll probably just stick with Apple TV. All this talk about plasma burn-in is freaking me out a little bit. |
