I love my Sigma 30mm. Sometimes it feels a tad soft. I'm tempted to order another and see if I get a sharper copy.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to buy a low aperture lens for my friend's canon. I've looked at this lens and the Canon 50 mm F/1.8. Ken Rockwell had great things to say about the canon lens and it is a third of the price. Have looked through the old threads re: sigma and haven't found any answers... Is this one that much better than the canon lens? Any help is much appreciated! |

Verrrry nice. Just cancelled my order a 2nd time (first had ordered from Adorama) and then from Amazon - both because they were on backorder and ordered from here.
I've had no issues with buying from Buydig before. |

check your lens careful people, I got mine from buydig and it is a bad one, not front/back focus prob. just a bad one, out of focus throughout the picture. lucky I pick another used and it makes big different. So, make sure you have something to compare with..., with out trying 2 or 3 lens, you will never know.

I guess it all depends on what focal length your friend is looking for. For the price, the 50mm is a great buy... and a nice lens to start learning to shoot using a larger aperture. Either way, you can't go wrong. Lenses seem to hold their value pretty well... so if your friend doesn't like it, they could always Craigslist it. |
