Oh really? Please explain? This is a $700 purchase. I paid $65 to cover this TV for an additional 3 yrs, 4 yrs total (1 yr Manuf + 3 yrs squaretrade) So for 9% of the purchase price, I will have peace of mind for the next 4 years. Without the extended warranty what do I do if my TV breaks 13 months after I purchased it? The cost to repair is near $400 - $500 At that point, might as well buy a new TV. So I fail to see how purchasing an extended warranty for 9% of the purchase price is a sucker deal, especially if my TV breaks after the 1 yr manuf. warranty expires. |

For every other situation, you're paying extra money for "peace of mind" with statistically no benefit. Insurance is a benefit when the costs could potentially lead to a grievous burden. A TV for a few hundred bucks isn't that type of situation. If it is...you shouldn't be buying a TV in the first place. Last edited by huevos; 02-21-2013 at 07:38 AM.. |

Insurance companies "pretty much never lose" because that's how they make money. They assume your risk for a premium. That's how they stay in business. Oh and speaking about overhead, what deal doesn't involve overhead? Last edited by lvblkjack; 02-21-2013 at 08:13 AM.. |

Costco's SquareTrade pricing is exclusive to Costco Members. You must purchase a SquareTrade Service Plan from a Costco Warehouse or from www.costco.com. Costco members may also purchase a SquareTrade Service plan to cover a new TV purchased outside of Costco from an authorized retailer in the US. Service Plan must be bought within 60 days of purchasing the TV. *Excludes limited life consumables such as batteries and lamps. |

This is my first Panasonic TV. Last thing I want is an xbox rrod situation where I'm out $700 after the manuf expires and the red light of death rears it's ugly head. I think $100 is a small price to pay for insurance. I paid $65 with the discount, so even better, for me of course. Others may not agree. Too many google searches indicate Panasonics have a problem. Unfortunately, we won't know how many since Panasonic is not going to come out and say what the failure rate is. Knowing this, it still didn't stop me from buying the TV. Why? Because the picture is wonderful and the price to size ratio is hard to beat. Same reason why I bought an xbox over a PS3. I knew the xbox had problems. But the overall experience was better for me than what the competitor had to offer. To each their own. With that said. I don't regret buying this TV and look forward to enjoying it worry free for the next 4 yrs. |
