It's not flimsy, I have one right here. Pushing on the plastic pieces, laying in some torque is not even flexing them and creating any feeling it's about to crack, surprisingly good.
It's heavy and sturdy and I am very sure it would not feel like a Swiffer or Dollar Tree broom if someone whacked me with it

overkill for a regular car don't cha think? got mine from walmart for $2, works like a charm everytime

Not flimsy at all, it's great. Ordered it in 2010, this was it's 3rd season. Still going strong.

Yeah really, I'm checking mine out right now too. The main body is a steel tube after all. I could possibly see the head falling off if the plastic gets brittle and breaks. Did you notice the head is threaded? I checked, and was able to thread it into a paint roller handle, so you could even use this as a 52" paint roller handle extension.
All-in-all it's solid enough that I definitely wouldn't want to get hit with it.

Good off season use, hadn't thought of that! Good quality steel handles are getting harder and harder to come by now, so many are lightweight and bend easily. I waited to post so I actually had one in hand before I recommended it to anybody. And if it should ever break, I will "upcycle" the handle at your suggestion. TIA

I'm very impressed with the strength of the handle. Yeah, it sure didn't last too long on the FP. I posted the $5 deal for this at Kmart a couple days ago, Amazon was selling it for $8.49 then. I guess they didn't want to be outdone by the likes of Kmart.

I have this and I have some mixed feelings about it. We own 4 of them for the entire family. First off, it's great for removing a lot of snow at once due to the length. Now for the bad parts. The "lock" that allows you to lock the extension is useless in heavy and/or wet snow. I have had the head remain motionless as the brush collapses in length since it can't move the snow. I have had the ice scraper break off 2 brushes as well, which is great when trying to clear ice.
