Dopey fax from computer question(s)

Every once and a while I need to fax something for work while I'm at home. My firm has an internal efaxing service that is usually fine for a couple pages, but not for large faxes.

My dopey question is if I get something like THIS [ebay.com] and connect a phone line to my desktop, can I fax PDFs or anything using Windows Fax and Scan? If not, what else will I need?

I know I can splurge the $28 to get THIS [officemax.com] shipped to me since there are no OMs less than 50 miles from me, but I already have an all-in-one machine that does everything but fax and I don't need another machine taking up space considering I might use it once a week.

Bonus fax question, if I need to get a physical fax machine, will the fax ink cartridge be used if I only send faxes? Meaning will I still need to replace it even though I will never receive faxes or make copies from that machine?

Thanks. Repped. Windows 8, 64-bit. Will that be a problem? I think I read somewhere that these only work with 32-bit operating systems. I just don't know how true that is.

What if your customers need to place a huge order of big macs & fries that takes several pages, do you make them call it in instead of faxin it?
