Make sure the Iphone is updated to the current 6.1 or latest version for your model
Make sure ITUNES is updated to the 11.0.1
Make sure the phone is not jailbroken. You will have to remove the jailbreak (lower baseband). You can google/youtube how to do this.
Also try doing this process again on another computer. Also if the phone is reported STOLEN/LOST it will not work on USA GSM. It will only work overseas. The phone will not work on Sprint/Verizon/Net10/Straighttalk
Also if the phone is NOT ACTIVATED, it will not work. You will need to activate it by using an ACTIVE AT&T USA sim card
To complete the unlock, simply:
1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. Make sure an sim card is inserted in phone.
2. Open iTunes on your MAC or PC and verify that you have Internet connectivity.
3. Connect your iPhone to iTunes by USB cable.
4. Back up your iPhone. How to back up: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
5. Complete the setup assistant and restore your backup
6. After the process has finished, disconnect your iPhone, wait 10 seconds, reconnect to iTunes. It’s fully unlocked.
I was worried that the old inactive ATT SIM I had wouldn't work, but after fiddling with it for a while and realizing I still had airplane mode turned on, it worked and my phone(iPod) is unlocked. Popped my T-Mo SIM in and it took a while to get a signal at first, but everything(data/messaging/calls) works. Nice to know I can use it as a backup if anything ever happens to my phone.
Edit: I just took a look at the cached version of the original thread and saw that it was (most likely) removed for being "fraudulent". I submitted my request Monday(?) night, and received my email late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning, which wasn't too far off from the 1-2 days originally promised. I can't vouch for anyone else, but I am thoroughly satisfied with my experience. I'm aware that this company stands to benefit from a repeal on the unlocking ban, but perhaps it was a little hasty to label them fraudulent before they had a chance to fulfill the hundreds/thousands of requests they got in a relatively short time.
I applied for the unlock on 18th, had not gotten email back as of yesterday night. Seeing as others had been able to unlock prior to getting the email, I backed up, restored to factory settings, and iTunes then reported it was now unlocked. Then I restored from backup (took an hour or so to reload the many gigabytes of apps/data). This morning I got the email like the one above.
Whatever you may think of the offer, it appears they are honoring the applications.
I think the original thread was taken down because SD was concerned that only two people verified that unlocks went through. Someone posted that cache from google, and I think the details are in there.
I just wanted to post something so others knew the deal was going through (I posted in hot deals today - it's been taken down). Glad to hear others are having success.
I did this, and it worked. Clicked "Restore iPhone" in the main iTunes syncing window, which brought it to factory settings, iTunes then indicated my phone was unlocked, then i right clicked on the phone in iTunes and clicked "Restore from Backup". Looks like all is good!
