Great price, but I do not need 10!

I hate this type of toslink cable. The "cable" is like thick spaghetti and it sure as hell doesn't bend like a normal cable.

With the advent of HDMI, does it even make sense to use these to split the Audio. Any proven better performance by splitting the Audio to Toslink/Optical and using HDMI for Video purposes only??

Given most of the newer receivers have only 2 Optical inputs and how will HDMI switching even work when Audio is split?

Your question is more like, "With the advent of GPS, do we really need printed maps?".

Yes, we do need printed maps. There are people out there who use it.

No. Not Quite. More like 'Are Printed Maps still useful with the advent of GPS and to be used adjunct with GPS'

My answer is - Absolutely, as I found on my recent trip to the National parks in OR and WA. You need common sense to navigate around. Modern phones don't work and GPS aren't accurate. Printed maps at least let you know where you might be headed.

But I have personally tried splitting audio to Optical on my receiver that supports HDMI and found Optical produced much better audio quality than using HDMI alone. So wanted opinions from other folks.

I ordered this cable about 2 months ago, and after 3 cables have failed, I have to agree with you. They have no insulation, don't bend well to slow curves, and simply put, are very prone to failure, and with one cable, the head came off of the cable.

Won't order again, live and learn.

These cables are relevant in at least some situations. I don't have cable, just the OTA HDTV antenna. My TV does not support ARC while the receiver does. I will use the TV's optical output to listen to audio through my receiver, rather than the TV speakers.

I think that may provide just another answer to your question.
